Gay Augusta

Southern charm with a gay twist Augusta is a charming southern city nestled next to the Savannah River on the Georgia/South Carolina border. The second oldest city in Georgia, Augusta's temperate climate makes for nice weather year round. Like many southern towns, it isn't the easiest place to be gay, but Augusta is home to an active gay community. You won't find many same sex couples being affectionate in public, but through bars, clubs and social meetups, the gay community is pushing the bounds of conservative southern life. Augusta celebrated its first Pride in 2010, placing it squarely on the gay map.
